Puchong Women Meet With Malaysian Minister
 

Meeting in Putra Jaya with Dato' Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development

 

Women leaders from the Puchong congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia presented a handmade quilt in the name of Latter-day Saint Charities to Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development on Tuesday, July 14, 2014.  The quilt was in appreciation for her work with the women of Malaysia.  It included pictures of the Minister and events she has supported.

The Minister expressed her gratitude for the beautiful gift and said it would be one of the cherished mementos of her ministry.  Altlhough she was leaving for Sarawak shortly and had a camera crew in her office ready to do a project before she left, she took the time to personally greet each one.  Carol Ng Fooi Chin, Peggy Wong Sum Wah, Josie Chung Nyuk Fuan, and the two women who designed the quilt Jennifer G. Natividad, and Leonardo G. Natividad were thrilled to present their gift.  Also attending were Senior couples Elder and Sister Weichers and Elder and Sister Hadley. All had a delighful meeting with Minister Rohani Karim in her Putra Jaya office.  This was a special event to meet with her.    At the conclusion of the meeting Minister Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim invited the group to a dinner reception that evening at the Hilton Hotel in Petaling Jaya.  The dinner was a fabulous event and Dato' Karim made everyone feel so welcome.

Minister Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, was installed as the only woman Minister in the Malaysian Cabinet on July 16, 2013.  She was previously Deputy Minister for Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism and Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Argo-based Industries.  She has also served as a member of Parliament for Batang Lapan, Sarawak.

Minister Rohani Karim is the mother of three children one of whom is a practicing physician in Malaysia.  She has one grandson.
