Singapore Youth Find Pen Pals Around The World

During a recent youth activity at the local stake center on Bukit Timah, young men and young women enjoyed their time to become social media pen pals with youth church members around the world.   The high light of their activity night was making a video and sharing their testimonies with young men and young women church members in Doha, Bahrain, Shanghai, Arizona, Utah, Japan, Idaho, Philippines and Virginia.

Stacy Torfin, Singapore Stake Young Women's President, said  the direction the world is taking is challenging to Church members, and the goal of the video exercise was to let youth in other parts of the world know that they are not alone.

Some of the questions they asked their “new friends” in the video were:

  • Why do you take the time to go to church, seminary, mutual or stake activities?
  • How hard is it to find the time to do it?
  • What blessings have you seen because of it?
  • What words of encouragement can you give to someone else who is struggling with choosing between the Lord and “the world” and it’s ideas?

As they made the video they expressed their own feelings on these questions and how they try to put the Lord first.  In the process they were strengthened in the truthfulness of their own words.  They are convinced that even though we are many miles apart, we can all learn and grow together as we choose to “Come Unto Christ”.

They are looking forward to responses from their new pen pals and developing a long lasting relationship over the miles.
